When exploring Bohol, most travelers head straight for the Chocolate Hills or the river cruises. But if you want an interactive, family-friendly stop that mixes local culture, hands-on animal encounters and a bit of learning, Bohol Enchanted delivers fun for all ages.
On our recent road trip through the island, we took the kids to explore Bohol Enchanted. From meeting exotic animals to learning about local heritage, it turned out to be a memorable afternoon for the whole family.
Culture and Learning Along the Walk
Bohol Enchanted is located in Bilar, Bohol, making it an easy add-on to a countryside tour whether you’re coming from Tagbilaran City or Panglao.

Right at the entrance there’s a souvenir shop, so you can pick up keepsakes on your way in or out. Visitors pay a small environmental fee of ₱5 on arrival, which is easy on the pocket for a family outing.
As we walked in, a bamboo musical element set the mood for the visit. There’s food available too, so you don’t have to leave when the kids get hungry halfway through.

The first photo op comes almost immediately: a giant tarsier statue greeting you at the gate. Of course we stopped for a family picture. It’s a fitting welcome, since the tarsier is one of Bohol’s most beloved animals.
Along the way we also learned where chocolate comes from: the cocoa plant. It’s a nice detour for the curious and a good lesson for the kids on what goes into the chocolate they love.
The Zoo and Animal Encounters
This is where Bohol Enchanted really shines for families. The kids loved the wildlife section most.
Rabbits: The children had a blast feeding the rabbits.

Pythons: For braver visitors, there’s a Burmese python, one of the largest snake species in the world and native to Southeast Asia. It’s non-venomous, with a dark body and brown blotches. There’s also an albino Burmese python, which looks completely different, with a yellow-cream body and peach or orange patterns.
Sugar gliders: This was the kids’ favorite. The children had so much fun taking pictures with the sugar gliders, and they were amazed as the little animal glided through the air straight to its caretaker for the photo. Sugar gliders are small, nocturnal gliding possums that love sweet foods like sap and nectar, and they glide much like flying squirrels.

Butterfly sanctuary: Billed as the biggest butterfly sanctuary in Bohol, it’s a calm, colorful stop and great for photos.

White carabao: Seeing an albino carabao, or white carabao, was a first for us and a real highlight. It has white hair all over its body and pink skin, so it stands out from the usual carabao you see in the fields.
Goats and horses: You’ll also find goats and horses. Horseback riding is available, though we didn’t try it this time.
More to Do Besides the Animals
If your kids (or you) have energy to burn, Bohol Enchanted also has a spinning wheel, archery, and a backyard zipline. We focused on the animals this visit, but these make it feel more like a mini adventure park than a simple zoo stop.
Food and Refreshments
After the animals, exhibits, and activities, you can grab local snacks and food inside the park to recharge before continuing your road trip.
