Sun, Sand, and Smiles: Kids Paddling at Paradise Island

Sometimes the best adventures don’t require a long mountain climb or a rugged off-road trail. Sometimes, all the soul needs is white sand, blue waters, and the sound of the kids laughing by the shore.

For our latest family outing, we headed back to a Samal classic: Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort. This trip wasn’t about the drive; it was about the destination and watching the kids enjoy the simple beauty of the island.

White Sand and Blue Waters

The moment you step off the boat at Paradise Island, the colors hit you. The contrast between the powdery white sand and the crystal-clear blue water is exactly why Samal remains a favorite for Davao-based families.

As The Montero Guy, I usually have my eyes on the road, but here, I couldn’t stop looking at the sky. It was one of those perfect Mindanao days where the horizon seemed to stretch forever, and the clouds look like they were painted on.

Kids in Their Element

The highlight of the day was watching the kids paddling in the shallow waters. There’s a certain kind of freedom children find at the beach: building sandcastles, chasing the small waves, and just being kids.

Paradise Island is particularly great for families because the swimming area is well-maintained and the water is calm enough for the little ones to paddle around safely. Seeing them enjoy the water reminded me that these are the moments that truly matter. It’s the “why” behind every road trip and every adventure we take.

Capture the Moment

You can see the kids paddling, the stunning blue of the water, and that perfect island sky. It’s a bit of “virtual Vitamin Sea” for those of you stuck in the office today!

I managed to capture this using the Insta360 X5. What I love about using this camera for family trips is how it picks up the entire atmosphere—the bright blue sky, the clear water, and the kids’ excitement—all in one frame. It’s the perfect way to document these quick, joyful memories without missing a beat.

Watch our kids in paddlers on Paradise Island here:

If these videos inspire you to take your own family out this weekend, I’d love to hear about it! Let’s keep exploring the beauty of the Philippines together.

Why Paradise Island Stays a Favorite

Even with so many new resorts popping up, Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort remains a top pick for us because:

  • The Cleanliness: The beach is always pristine.
  • The Vibe: It manages to feel like a tropical escape even though it’s just a short boat ride from the city.
  • Family Comfort: From the food to the shore-side seating, everything is designed to make it easy for families with kids.

You don’t always need a 4×4 adventure to find peace. Sometimes, all it takes is a short boat ride and a day under the sun with the people you love.

Pack the sunblock, bring the kids, and take a moment to enjoy the white sand and blue waters of Samal.
